Bash for Cybersecurity teaches Linux and shell scripting as foundations for cybersecurity, in twenty chapters organized into five parts. The chapters show how to inspect systems, reason about permissions, process logs, automate audits, and support authorized triage and incident-response workflows. This page lists the parts and chapters; Chapter Topics summarizes what each chapter covers.

Part I. Linux Command-Line Foundations

In this part you build the operating-system literacy that cybersecurity tooling depends on: the terminal, the filesystem, permissions, and streams.

Part II. Bash Programming Foundations

In this part you move from typing commands to writing reliable, reusable Bash scripts.

Part III. Streams, Logs, and Robust Automation

In this part you use pipelines, text processing, logs, and defensive scripting for analysis work.

Part IV. Linux Operations and Remote Administration

In this part you automate server administration: processes, services, scheduled jobs, remote access, and recovery.

Part V. Cybersecurity Automation

In this part you combine earlier skills into audit, hardening, triage, and repeatable security workflows.
